Loose parts have been capturing the imagination of children for centuries and at Forest School, we understand the inherent value that loose parts bring to a child’s curiosity and imagination. Providing children with the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and the child’s abilities is a key principle within a Forest School program. This workshop explores the most critical component of activity planning which is how to identify, assess and mitigate risks. Additional topics include safe tool usage, preparing for all seasons, proper clothing and managing risks as it relates to hiking trails, basecamps or other sites. Participants will build the confidence to lead traditional Forest School activities in any weather!
